As part of the final exam for my university thesis project in Interaction Design, I designed and developed a basic horror game using Unreal Engine 4 blueprints.

Intro
“Lisa: The Game” was my final university thesis project, and it holds a special place in my heart because it was my first experience with game design. At the time, working in this field was just a dream. This project is especially meaningful to me because I believed in it from the very beginning, and, aside from the audio, it was entirely my own.

About
“Lisa: The Game” tells the story of a young child who experiences strange visions and possesses paranormal powers. Players assume the child’s perspective, exploring an eerie, empty house that changes dramatically based on their actions. The kid, follows instructions of mysterious creatures that bring her through a journey in her very own dreams, although their intentions may not be so benevolent.
How?
Thanks to Blueprint Visual Scripting, I could program the game without knowing C++, though I had to create some custom features beyond Epic’s standard actions, which was a fun and interesting challenge.
In the Interaction Design course, I learned the basics of 3D modeling with Maya and zBrush, but for this project, I used free Epic assets to speed up the process, modifying textures (deer, paintings, furniture) to suit my needs.
How it started
It all started with a lot of concept art and some sketches of the world. This is the very first sketch I made for the floating island.
How it ended
The final version of the floating island was even more eerie and spooky that what I initially imagined it to be. Yay!
